CATS ON THE GOLF COURSE
Photography as a hobby is fascinating as it helps you to capture moments. A good sequence of photos of a chosen subject also helps in storytelling. I am fond of golf photography wherein I try to capture professional golfers hitting different shots from varying turf conditions and the facial expressions and emotions that can be observed when a golfer is planning his shot, while executing and after executing the shots. Alongside, I am on the lookout to capture fascinating birds or animals which inhabit various golf courses.
This week I was at the Royal Calcutta Golf Course to be with Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, my son who is a leading professional golfer from India. On Saturday while walking towards the second green, I saw this beauty basking in the sun. I couldn’t hold myself from capturing these moments. One of the golfers asked me, “why are you taking pictures of cats' '. I told him that I not only take pictures but I also take pictures for the sake of storytelling
Cat family is known for hunting. Some of us would have seen domestic cats playing with butterflies. Well!! The fact is that cats love to eat butterflies because of the high nutritional value that the butterfly family possesses. Wild cats too do the same. I saw it happening live while walking by the side of the eighth hole fairway. It took me some time to fathom as to what this cat is up to . Since I had my lens on, I went on to capture the sequence of the hunt through pictures rather than making a video clip since pictures would make a better storytelling.
I wanted to capture the cat during its leap, but it happened at a very fast pace and this is the best I could capture. This
was instantaneous and I was not prepared for it as I was busy capturing some exciting golfing moments which I will share some other day. Anyway, I am better informed for my next outing.
