I still haven’t read Pride & Prejudice but this one sounds interesting!
Haha well personally I think the adaptation is quite true to the original but (much) easier to read so this may be the perfect read for you!
Sounds like a nice contemporary take on P and P. Will get my hands on it!
A lot of people reduce Austen....the queen of the rom-com...and the genre as a whole to fluff, or chick-lit. For me, Austen’s books are an insightful look on society, with it’s gender norms, limitations and idiosyncrasies well. There’s something so relatable about Austen’s context it’s no surprise Pride and prejudice has been adapted time and again in ways even it’s creator couldn’t dream of. I’d say “It is a truth universally acknowledged that Pride and Prejudice was meant for a South-Asian audience!” Unmarriagable my Sonia Kamal is one of my top reads from 2020. Engaging, hilarious, and super fun, this book plonks our favourite Austen authors in early 2000s Lahore, offering an evocative look at modern South Asian society and it’s place for women and marriage. One of the best Austen adaptations I’ve personally read I highly recommend this book for your next read!
