Here’s what the respective groups look like heading into Matchday 5
Group A
Table-toppers Man City just need a point in the next two games to go through, their berth has more or less, been confirmed. Second place PSG are also likely to go through unless Club Brugge pull off something magical and win their next 2 games and PSG lose theirs. Leipzig have been eliminated.
Group B
Table-toppers Liverpool have already qualified having won all of their 4 games, they are pinned on to top the group. Second placed Porto will qualify if they beat Liverpool and if Atletico lose to Milan. Atletico need atleast a draw to keep their qualification hopes alive. AC Milan must win their next 2 games if they are to have any hopes of qualifying.
Group C
A point will be enough for Ajax to win the group, they’ve already secured qualification to the next round. For Dortmund the match against Sporting Lisbon is very crucial as they are level on points, a win will put them through to the next round. Lisbon have to beat Dortmund with a two-plus goal margin to ensure qualification to the RO16.
Group D
A win or two draws will see Madrid go through to the next round. Inter Milan have to get atleast four points in their next 2 games to ensure qualification. Sheriff have to beat Madrid and Inter have to lose to Shakhtar for them to go through. Shakhtar have to win both of their games to have a chance at qualifying.
Group E
Bayern have qualified to the next round. A win would secure Barcelona a berth in the next round. Benefica have to win their next 2 games to qualify, Barca would also have to falter.
Group F
A win over Villareal will secure qualification. Villareal will qualify if they beat United 1-0 or by 2 or more goals.
Group G
Salzburg will go through if they win against Lille. Lille need atleast 4 points from their next 2 games to qualify.
Group H
Chelsea and Juventus have guaranteed their Ro16 berth. Zenit and Malmo are unlikely to go through.
