Chandigarh auto driver Anil offers free rides today to celebrate Neeraj Chopra's gold in World Championship
What a wonderful gesture! Auto driver Anil Kumar is offering free rides in Chandigarh from 9 am to 5 pm to celebrate Neeraj Chopra's golden triumph in the World Championship. Anil previously offered free rides when Neeraj won gold in the Tokyo Olympics.
"It’s a great achievement for every Indian, and today again I won't be charging passengers in the tri-city (Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali) until 5 pm. I just dropped a passenger in Panchkula and didn't charge anything. When I explained the reason behind the free ride, he was surprised and elated by my gesture," says Anil Kumar, the auto driver.
He daily earns around Rs 500 to 700 from driving auto and losing a day's income would be a burden on his pocket.
"Neeraj has made every Indian proud and this is the least I can contribute in celebrating his golden win in the Wod Championship," added Anil.
Anil has consistently demonstrated his support for celebrating India's sporting achievements. He even promised a five-day free ride if India had won the cricket World Cup in 2019. Notably, he's also offering free rides to Indian Army personnel and pregnant women, which he proudly displays on his auto - "Indian Army, free service." Anil Kumar's generosity and patriotism are truly commendable.
