Every year the beautiful state of Himachal Pradesh n3dkmes chaos, now the picturesque town of Manali in Himachal Pradesh has been hit by floods following a sudden cloudburst.
The incident, which occurred at midnight, has left a trail of destruction, with two houses completely washed away and one partially damaged.
The Anjani Mahadev river and the Aakhri Naal, which flows through the region, experienced a sudden surge in water levels, causing widespread panic among the residents. Additionally, the deafening sound of raging water, prompted residents to flee their homes to save their lives.
Palchan, Ruad and Kulang villages were among the majorly affected areas with floodwaters causing chaos and mayhem. Bridges and power projects were also reported to be damaged, further compounding the crisis.
The Manali Leh road has been closed due to debris accumulation near Palchan and Solang, hampering rescue and relief efforts. The local administration, led by the Manali administration, is currently assessing the damage and providing assistance to the affected families.
According to the Palchan Panchayat's BDC member, Reshma Devi, the Anjani Mahadev river flooded at around 1am in the morning, causing terrifying sound that woke up the residents. Pradhan Kaushalya and former Pradhan Sundar Thakur corroborated the report, stating that the residents living near the riverbank were forced to flee their homes and seek safer ground.
"People have saved their lives by running away from the flood in the river, but they have suffered huge losses," the local leaders lamented.
