Adarsh Narahari was just 26 when his grand aunts, whose children lived in the US, implored him to set up a senior citizen active living accommodation in India. There is nothing here that is comparable to the facilities that are in the US, they told him. That was the spark that spurred Adarsh into action. He spent three months in Japan, Europe and the US observing, understanding and appreciating what it takes to build and run a senior citizen facility that will add zest to the lives of the seniors.
In 2014, he established Primus Senior Living and its project Reflection Senior Citizen apartments at Kanakapura, Bengaluru and followed it up with another, Primus Ohana in Sarjapur, Bengaluru which will be ready for occupation in 2023 and there are several more in the pipeline under the banner of Primus Senior Citizen homes in Bengaluru and Chennai. Adarsh won the ‘Times of India Entrepreneur of the Year Award’ in 2018 for his efforts in developing elder care communities.
Primus Reflection has over 140 senior citizens leading a life of comfort and security and abuzz with activities. In a video conversation arranged by Silver Talkies and Primus, some of the residents shared their experiences. One lady spoke of how her husband’s health was proving to be a concern and it was getting more and more difficult for her to manage his daily needs. She feels secure and comfortable at the home, and said that when her husband needed emergency care due to a cardiac problem, prompt care and attention came to his rescue. Taking away the stress of coping with illness is a huge boon. Another lady spoke of how quickly she felt at home in a cosmopolitan community and the warm companionship she feels. Another spoke of the range of activities and having something to look forward to each day.
On a visit to Reflection Senior Citizen home, I saw happy faces and curious interest in our presence.
