Charles Babbage was an English mathematician, philosopher, and inventor who lived from 1791 to 1871. He is often referred to as the "Father of the Computer" due to his pioneering work on mechanical computing machines. Babbage designed the Analytical Engine, a precursor to modern computers, which utilized punched cards for input and had the ability to perform complex calculations. Although his Analytical Engine was never fully constructed during his lifetime, his ideas laid the foundation for the development of modern computing technology.
