In an effort to defeat the BJP in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state of Gujarat, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal launched a crowdsourcing campaign on Saturday to choose the party's candidate for Chief Minister.
The Delhi Chief Minister has been aggressively campaigning in the state, holding rallies and townhalls and making a variety of pre-election promises, including free electricity, improved healthcare, and better education. The "Choose Your Chief Minister" campaign is his most recent initiative.
"The public wants change. They seek protection from unemployment and inflation. One year ago, the BJP replaced the Chief Minister. Initially, they had Vijay Rupani. Why did they choose Bhupendra Patel to take his place? Does this imply that Vijay Rupani had some sort of problem?"
By the end of this year, elections must be held for the 182-member Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The survey results, however, have not yet been made public.
