Citroen has disclosed the ARAI fuel-efficiency figures for the newly launched C3 Aircross automatic, available at introductory prices ranging from Rs 12.85 lakh to Rs 13.85 lakh. Powered by the familiar 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine found in the standard SUV, the automatic variant maintains the same 110hp but boasts an increased torque of 205Nm. The ARAI rates this engine-gearbox combination at 17.6kpl.
Comparing fuel efficiency among midsize SUVs, the Citroen C3 Aircross automatic trails behind its European counterparts and many Japanese and Korean rivals. Notably, the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun, equipped with the same Aisin-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engines, outperform the C3 Aircross in efficiency. However, it surpasses the Honda Elevate, which features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and CVT gearbox, demonstrating the C3 Aircross's commendable fuel economy despite its competition.
