Delhi has been on High Alert due to G20 Summit with barricades lining the streets and armed guards at every corner.

Although the G20 Summit went successful but the heavy security deployment seemed to have brought a positive change in the reduction of crime rates in Delhi.

Snatchings, for example, went down by 25% in the first 10 days of September compared to the corresponding period last year.

With fewer individuals out on the road, snatching cases decreased by 37.5%, with the reported cases standing at 45 between September 8 and 10 against 72 during the same period last year. Simultaneously, rape cases saw a 57% reduction, with only nine instances being reported during these three days against 21 last year.

According to Delhi Police data, the police control room received 55,863 actionable calls between September 1 and 10, and 39 hoax calls. Of the calls, 21 calls were related to the sighting of drones and 11 calls regarding that of balloons & kites, sources said.

Although the crime rates were low in the National Capital but around the NCR many crimes still happened.

A car of a Delhi Police constable headed for G20 duty was stolen at gunpoint by two masked men near Kherki Daula on the Southern Peripheral Road.

A man walked up to the constable's car and pointed a gun at him. The cop was then dragged out of the car and asked to hand over the keys.

In Noida, a 62-year-old owner of a publishing house was closeted in his bungalow for nearly 16 hour after allegedly murdering his wife while police looked for him all over, even issuing a lookout notice and dispatching a team to Nepal on suspicion that Singh, who holds a British passport, would fly out from there.

The cops reached in half an hour and started a search. Sniffer dogs were brought in next. Singh perhaps heard the sirens, the thud of the main door being broken open, the clatter of feet advance and recede, and the panting of dogs looking for his scent from the stillness of his hideout. But he went undetected.
