It was yet another battle for Al Nassr’s title conquest when they played hosts to Abha at the Saudi Pro League. Last week, Al Nassr looked superb in their King Cup of Champions quarter-final matchup against the same opponents, Abha and everyone expected this match to be an easy one for them as well. But it was far from an easy one for them as the Al Nassr boys found themselves trailing the match right in the 26th minute as Abdulfattah Adam Ahmad Mohammed scored for Abha. Then Al Nassr tried really hard to find the equalising goal which never really came for them in the first half. But in the 78th minute, we saw Cristiano Ronaldo roll back the years as he scored a wonderful free kick goal from 35 yards out beating through the wall and pass the Abha goalkeeper. This goal really got the stadium up from their feet giving them something to cheer about and after this goal, the Al Nassr boys never looked back and kept on attacking the Abha penalty box. In the 80th minute, Abha were reduced to 10 men as Zakaria Sami Al Sudani saw a second yellow.
In the 85th minute, Abdulfattah Adam Ahmad Mohammed handled the ball inside the box and after a successful VAR check, the referee awarded a penalty to Al Nassr. And just when everyone in the pitch was hoping Ronaldo to score his second of the night and take his season tally to 10, he did something that touched the heart of every single fan in the ground. He gave the ball to Talisca for him to increase his goal tally as Al-Ittihad’s Abderrazak Hamdallah scored a hattrick earlier that day and went ahead of the Brazilian.
Cristiano Ronaldo was really pumped up after his free kick, expressing tremendous joy following is 35-yard free-kick which was his first goal at Mrsool Park since joining the club way back in January. Saturday. He later took to his Instagram and uploaded a post which read, “Great to get the win and so happy to score here in our stadium with our fans!”
