You don't have to tell everyone everything. Not because it's a secret, but because it's none of their business!
This has taken teens a LONG time to learn. When someone tries to pry into your life, when they ask nosy questions, when they try to get the "scoop" on what you're doing, where you're going or what your plans are, YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL THEM. Teens shouldn't feel obligated to answer if they don't want to. They shouldn't allow themselves to get so caught off guard that they end up spilling their guts and later regretting it. They need to know that it's okay to say things like, "I'm still figuring that out." or "Hmm... I'm not sure yet." or "We'll see.." They don't HAVE to tell everyone everything... especially when it's none of their business. Privacy is EVERYTHING.
