#DeGenderSports The attacks against trans athletes are stressful. We’re not taking anyone’s space.

The attacks that are currently taking place against trans athletes are really stressful to see.

Thankfully, both for hockey with Team Trans and in my football tournaments, I'm not the only trans woman who plays.

And the stance by the international governing body has been, "Y'all are welcome".

We're paying to play here: if you win a tournament, you might get a couple 100 bucks amongst the team. There's no sponsorships at stake or anything like that. Nobody's taking a place from somebody else.

So the support has very much been, "Be who you are. Play in the division that you are comfortable in."

Team Trans recently had our big tournament in Wisconsin, and one of the really cool things that came out of that was the NHL took a very clear stance against trolls who were targeting us – they tweeted, "Trans men are men. Trans women are women. Non-binary people exist."

Period and stop, no wiggle room. That is a very definitive statement, to have one of the top four sporting governing bodies in the country and top 10 in the world to back you. That's incredible.
