New Delhi: Voting for 250 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will take place on December 4, 2022, said Vijay Dev, Delhi State Election Commissioner on Friday.
The votes will be counted on December 7, a day before the counting of votes for Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.
The issue of notification will be on Nov 7 and will end on Nov 14. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is Nov 19.
Model code of conduct for MCD polls has be implemented in Delhi from today with the announcement of polls.
Announcing the MCD elections, Dev said, “We completed the delimitation process in Delhi. Polling stations were redrawn. Now we are prepared for 250 wards in Delhi. Municipal corporation of Delhi has jurisdiction in 68 constituencies. 42 seats reserved for SCs.”
"Out of those 42 seats for SC, 21 seats will be for SC women. 104 seats will be reserved for women," he added.
In the civic body polls in 2017, the BJP had won 181 of the 270 wards. No polling could be held on two seats due to death of candidates.
The AAP had won 48 wards, while the Congress managed to win 27 wards.
