In coming days the situation in Delhi will be very strict with restrictions because the G20 summit.
It will be better off for the people in Delhi to be staying indoors or at least staying away from the New Delhi area, largely Lutyens' Delhi, during the G20 summit in the city.
Delhi's Traffic police has came out with an elaborate plan mentioning restrictions that will be put in place. It suggested alternative routes which may facilitate your commute, if needed, with detours but could prove to be time-consuming with unexpected delays.
The Best Way to travel is to take Metro due to heavy traffic and diversion in route, then some metro stations also will be closed due to security reasons.
The restrictions will come into force on the night of September 7. The New Delhi district, where most of the events are scheduled, will be a part of "Controlled Zone I" and will remain out of bounds for general traffic on September 8-10. Only residents, authorised vehicles and emergency vehicles will be allowed to ply.
The entire area inside Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg) will be considered a "Regulated Zone" from 5am on September 8 to 11.59pm on September 10 with the same exceptions besides allowing people headed for the railway stations and airport.
The residents will need to carry appropriate residential address and identity proof with them all the time as security checks will be carried out. The movement of DTC buses will be restricted in the New Delhi area though they would be allowed to ply on Ring Road and beyond. Tourists with hotel bookings will also be allowed to commute through auto rickshaws and taxis.
A "Controlled Zone II", consisting of a clutch of roads, has also been demarcated. In this area, from 5am to 1pm on September 10, traffic regulations will result in restricted access to New Delhi Railway Station from Ajmeri Gate side; Old Delhi Railway Station from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) Road side; Shanti Van Chowk from Geeta Colony side; ITO from Vikas Marg side; Rajghat Chowk from Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Marg side; and Guru Nanak Chowk from Minto Road side.
