As Delhi continued to suffer in the previous months due to increased air pollution and soaring smog at the onset of winters, some relief finally has brought good news for Delhiites this month.
BREATHER FOR DELHIITES, as per the Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and adjoining areas, for the first time in the 10-day period of December, the national capital has registered its lowest daily average AQI in 2023 as compared to the corresponding period in the last five years.
The data exclusively accessed by Republic TV showed that from 2018 to 2023, the average AQI in the national capital has dropped to 321.10 for the first time in the previous five years.
Good news, for a change! Delhi has not reported a single day of 'Severe' air quality during this 10-day period of 2023 as compared to the corresponding period in last five years.
As per the data, the lowest AQI registered in the month of December during winters in Delhi in the past five years is 286 as of today. Additionally, for the two days in the month of December this year, i.e. on 5th & 6th December, the AQI remained 297 and 286 respectively corresponding to the 347 and 353 last year during the same time in December. A significant change over the course of five years in the air quality in the month of December could be observed this year.
As per experts, the implementation of intensifying the measures that fall under the directions of Stage-1 and Stage-2 of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), for management of air pollution in Delhi, has yielded positive results this time in Delhi.Stage-1 and Stage-2 of GRAP is still in force in the Delhi-NCR region. Notably, these restrictions are implemented when the air quality touches the poor category ranging from AQI 201-300.
