Good job, Pratishtha 👍
Delhi smog towers are creating a buzz ahead of the winter season as the air quality deteriorates post the festive season.
After a year of installation and pilot run under constant supervision of IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay and Delhi Pollution Control Committee, the Delhiites are following up on how effective the towers have been to speculate the pollution levels during upcoming winters.
The Delhi government claims that the towers are very effective as they filter out 80% of particulate matter in the air. The official IIT reports confirm that indeed the impact is as high as 70-80% but only limited to 50 meters of space. The Anand Vihar tower placed right between a metro station, railway station, bus stand and construction sights as well as CP tower being located near one of the most busy areas of the city are the talk of the town as Delhi winters known for extreme pollution, smog and poor AQI approach. Pratishtha Bagai's ground report tries to understand whether people around the towers are actually affected by the 80m vertical towers and is there need of more such structures given the high construction and maintenance cost.
