The 3-day workshop on Differentiated Instruction and Gender-Responsive Pedagogy organised by the Department of Education, CTA began on 31 July 2023 at the Tibetan Children’s Village School, Ladakh.
The workshop aims to equip the teachers with the understanding of the need of differentiating classroom instructions based on the diversity of learners in the classroom, key characteristics and aspects of gender-responsive pedagogy, lesson planning and formative assessment. During the 3-day workshop, the two facilitators applied various strategies by providing the participants with pre-reading articles and collaborative assignments. Participants were allowed to work and discuss in groups, and share their learning during the sessions. The facilitators initiated discussion, and responded to the queries and feedback provided by the participants.
Tenzin Dorjee is taking sessions on Differentiated Instruction and Dr. Kalsang Wangdu on Gender-Responsive Pedagogy. A total number of 27 teachers with 20 females and 5 males are participating in the workshop. The workshop was funded by the Global Affairs Canada through the Alinea International.
Earlier on 27 – 29 July 2023, Tenzin Dorjee accompanied by Dr. Kalsang Wangdu visited the TCV Ladakh’s primary branches and main school. They observed the classroom facilities of all levels, labs, teachers’ reading corner, hostels and interacted with head-teachers and principal at the schools to understand the need of support of DOE, CTA. They also visited SEMCOL to understand their system of learning.
