Dervaza gas crater hole
This human pit has been burning with fire since 1971 AD and has not been extinguished to this day!! In the Turkmenistan region, 250 km away from the capital, Ashgabat. For more than 43 years, it has been burning until it was called (the Gate of Hell) because it reminds people of the heat of hell and its non-stop burning, and anyone who visits this place and sees it knows that feeling. This hole was created by the Russians in the 1970s to explore for natural gas. The drilling crane collapsed and a large leak of natural gas (methane) occurred. So the team made the decision to ignite the hole until the gas stock ran out and the problem of its leakage ended. But something happened that no one expected!! If the burning of the crater continues from that time until today, this burning field is considered (the sixth largest natural gas field in the world). Today it has become a tourist destination for adventure lovers.
