As the saying goes, "if you have health, you have everything". But this saying is not accurate as those who have health doesn't have everything.
As the theme of 2022 of Human Rights Day is Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All. The Declaration and WHO'S Constitution asserts that health is a fundamental right of an individual.
The right to health
Dignity, freedom and justice cannot be achieved without health for all. The right to health is to ensure that everyone has access to a better quality and affordable healthcare. It lies on the dependence of gender equality and the realization of other human rights which involves food, education, housing and access to safe water and sanitation.
Everyone has the right to health irrespective of race, colour, sex, language, gender, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, geographical location, religion, political and other opinion, nationality or other status.
The right to health is the right to have a control over one's body and health, which includes the sexual and reproductive health and rights of women and girls without interference. Violence which involves gender based violence, it is always a violation of the right to health and it can have serious health consequences in women's lives and children.
Right to health is leaving no one behind. It means that everyone should have access to health services without any discrimination, which includes on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.
The aim of right to health means is to put stop to discrimination at all settings. It means to support the national and local authorities by addressing racial discrimination and health related inequities.
