The First Press Commission of India was appointed in September 1952 under the chairmanship of Justice Rajadhyaksha which submitted its report in 1954 and made several recommendations.
•While condemning the practice of giving astrological predictions the Commission said: The spread of habit of consultation of, reliance upon, astrological predictions, particularly of the nature and in the manner they are published at present is certain to produce unsettling effect on minds of readers. We would describe the practice of published such predictions undesirable.
