He has poured his driving philosophy in life into a book titled, “Don’t say NO when you can say YES.” Writing the book and compiling the life story of many inspirational people was itself a big YES for him.
Like many far-reaching and gainful decisions he took in life, his YES to moving into Antara is giving him a new and rewarding phase of life.
A Home for the Like-minded
One of the senior citizen homes that we stayed in during the cyclothon was Sri Ramanashraya Retirement Home, Hosur, run by a devotee of Ramana Maharishi. This facility houses a small group of retired government officials and retired public and private sector senior managers. Residents are carefully screened and selected so that there is like-mindedness and acceptance of the formal and informal guidelines for harmonious coexistence. There is a spiritual atmosphere at the home with the Maharishi's philosophy pervading the place. The cottages are comfortable and the surroundings green and peaceful, offering independence and yet closeness. Food is strictly vegetarian and simple but wholesome and healthy. The lawns and vegetation are managed by the residents. Residents are free to visit family and friends and even stay with them for extended spells. The premises houses an independent shelter home for aged destitute women. While distinctly apart from the main retirement home, some of the residents provide volunteer care services for these unfortunate inmates.
Homes to Meet Diverse Needs

During my cyclothon from Chennai to New Delhi, in partnership with HelpAge India, I visited many homes that cater for the disadvantaged sections of society and spent a night in some of them.
