Dr H. F. Khorakiwala , a masters in Pharmaceutical Science with Advanced Management Programme of Harvard Business School founded Wockhardt, one of India's top generic drug makers in 1967. Its current market capitalisation is over $1 billion and presence in over ninety countries. He ventured into biotechnology in the pre-liberalisation era when biotechnology had little prospects of growth. He chose this name Wockhardt because it sounded like 'work hard,' which best defines his attitude and mission.
