Edge of Tomorrow is a sci-fi movie directed by Doug Liman. The screenplay is adapted from a Japanese novel, All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.
Tom Cruise stars in the movie as Lt. Col. William "Bill" Cage, he is an Public relations officer in the army and has no on field experience. Emily Blunt stars as Rita Vrataski. The movie is a story about how an alien race has invaded Europe and are conquering most of it. Now the military of different parts are engaged in a war with them. Bill Cage with the help of warrior Rita has to save the human race. William has this opportunity as he's caught in a time loop. The conflict in the movie is aliens vs humans and human extinction.
Bill cage with no combat experience is sent on to the field to battle the aliens who are called mimics. He's sent there because he doesn't agree with the military chief's attack. Bill dies innthe field but manages to kill a big blue mimic and is covered by his blood as he dies. He wakes up again, and lives this day again. After this happens a few times he meets Rita in the battlefield and Rita tells him to meet her at the base when he wakes up next. Upon explaining to Rita that how she told her to meet him, she takes him to meet Dr. Carter. Dr Carter explains that there are ranks in the aliens and when a Alpha is killed, like the one Bill killed, The Omega who's the head of the aliens resets the time. Hence this leads to the creation of the loop. They try multiple tactics but fail a number of times to win the war. Finally they decide to locate the Omega and kill him to end the war.
In the end with the help of the J-squad, Bill is able to kill the Omega, he dies alongside the omega but also floats in its blood. He awakens again in the past but finds that they are winning the war as the mimics have weakened due to the death of Omega.
