Educator Dr. Vikas Divyakirti Questions Shah Rukh Khan's Role in Darr
Educator Dr. Vikas Divyakirti has recently sparked a debate about Shah Rukh Khan's portrayal in the film Darr. In a discussion on We Are Yuvaa’s YouTube channel, Divyakirti questioned whether Khan’s character, Rahul Mehra, should be seen as a lover or a rapist. He criticized the film for showcasing "crude masculinity," pointing out that despite the female character Juhi Chawla's repeated refusals, Khan's character continues to pursue her obsessively, as highlighted in the song "Tu haan kar ya naa kar, Tu hai meri Kiran."
Divyakirti also discussed similar themes in other Yash Chopra films, such as Kabhi Kabhie, suggesting that such narratives reflect a possessive and dismissive view of women. He emphasized that objectification and the undermining of individual autonomy are problematic, whether it concerns men or women.
