On the eve of the deadline to complete his acquisition of Twitter, Elon Musk resorts to terminate top executives and outlines his plans for the company to the Advertisers
A day before Elon Musk’s court-imposed deadline to complete his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, Elon Musk fired Parag Agrawal, CEO of Twitter, along with CFO Ned Segal and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde on Thursday. Musk accused them of misleading him and Twitter investors over the number of fake accounts on the social media platform and providing little clarity over how he will achieve his lofty ambitions that he has outlined for the social media platform. Agrawal and Segal were in Twitter's San Francisco headquarters during the closing of the deal and were escorted out, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Following the termination, as an apparent attempt to soothe the rising concerns of advertisers over the deal drama, who account for 90 percent of Twitter's revenue, Musk posted a message on the platform sharing how he intends to run Twitter. Musk shares his intentions of making Twitter a "common digital town square for the future civilization" by promoting healthy debates on the platform, avoiding extreme polarization and ensuring suitable consequences for those misusing the space. "I did it to try to help Humanity," claims Musk. "Twitter aspires to be the most respected advertising platform in the world that strengthens your brand and grows your enterprise. To everyone who has partnered with us, I thank you. Let us build something extraordinary together," he concluded.
