Stinky poo, what's your secret? It's a known fact that poop smells but have you ever wondered "WHY"? Smells like shit in here!
Food to Poop: What exactly happens?
1 INPUT - When you consume food and other inputs like vitamins and medications, they have an effect on your microbiome as they pass through your body.
2 MICROBES & METABOLITES - Several of these inputs aka food, vitamins etc are broken down by your bacteria, that also produce byproducts (metabolites) in the process.
3 OUTPUT - These bacterias and the byproducts of their activies can produce odour in your stool. One of the main being Indole.
What makes your poop smelly? Indole is a crystalline organic substance, it is found in faces and has a foul odour. It is a substance that influences smell. Other typical faces odours can be caused by substances present in foods high in sulphur, such as:
- BROCCOLI
- BRUSSELS SPROUTS
- GARLIC
- EGGS
- CHEESE
- CAULIFLOWER
- ONION
- ALCOHOL
The smell of your poop might change with each new bowel movement, as a result of changes in your diet and the waste products produced during digestion. Poop smells differ from person to person since every individual's food, physique, and microbial makeup are different.
Now you know? Thank me later 💩
