The history of Uttar Pradesh dates back to 4000 years. This state symbolise diversity in religious life which is depicted through its various famous monuments. Uttar Pradesh went through an architectural unification from Buddhist, the Hindu Rajas, the Mughals and the Britishers.
1. Tajmahal: The epitome of love is a masterpiece of the Mughal architecture. It attracts a large number of tourists and most visited historical monuments in Uttar Pradesh, located on the south bank of the Yamuna river in Agra.
2. Kashi Vishwanath Temple: It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on the bank of the sacred river Ganga in the holy city of Varanasi. The temple is the holiest of Shiva temples and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, also the most important places of worship in Hindu religion.
3. Fatehpur Sikri: Fatehpur Sikri is an abandoned city and The most important buildings in this city are Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chishti and Panch Mahal.
4. Sarnath: this city is located near Varanasi and an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists. Most famous ancient buildings and structures at Sarnath are Dhamek Stupa,Ashoka Pillar and Mulagandhakuti Vihara. also Gautam Buddha gave his first Sermon.
5. Allahabad Fort: it stands on the banks of the Yamuna near the confluence and one of the monument of national importance in Uttar Pradesh. 6. Deodarh monuments: Deogarh village is located on the right bank of Betwa River and known for many ancient monuments from Gupta Empire. The Deogarh monuments are protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, such as Shantinath Temple, Dashavatara temple Deogarh fort and Varaha temple.
7. All Saints Cathedral: All Saints Cathedral or Patthar Girja ghar is an Anglican cathedral, located near the civil lines in Allahabad. The cathedral is part of the Church of North India and one of the most astonishing churches in India.
