Fatawu made his Black Stars debut in a 3-1 victory against Zimbabwe in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification in September 2021. The 28-man roster for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations included Fatawu. He was the fourth-youngest player overall and the youngest on the Ghanaian team. The African forward is playing in his first World Cup and is keen to perform on such a huge platform and ideally lead his team to the round of 16 after battling the formidable Portuguese and Uruguay in the pool stages.
Club Career
Issahaku began playing football in 2019 at the age of fifteen for the Tamale-based team Steadfast FC in Ghana's Zone One of the Division One League. He quickly established himself as one of the league's most promising players during his first campaign, contributing to five goals and eight assists in 13 games before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the league to suspend play. He was recruited by Sporting CP in April 2022 to a five-year deal with a 60 million euro release clause. This put an end to transfer drama reports about him joining Sporting CP on loan from Liverpool.
