Senegal did their job by winning against Ecuador on Tuesday to book their Super 16 berth. They registered a 2-1 victory to finish in second position in the group stage. Here, we rate their players out of 10 based on their performances:
GK: Edouard Mendy (6) - The stop-stopper didn't have much to do in the game.
RB: Youssouf Sabaly (7) - Worked hard in the game and contributed in both aspects of the game.
CB: Kalidou Koulibaly (9) - Led his side in the best possible manner. Apart from being solid at the defence, also scored the winning goal.
CB: Abdou Diallo (7) - He was solid in the backline as well to help his side clinch a victory.
LB: Ismail Jakobs (5) - Apart from not doing enough to stop Ecuador's goal, he was fine.
CM: Pathe Ciss (6) - Should have done more to win the midfield battle.
CM: Pape Gueye (6) - Did the basics throughout the same and that was enough for his side.
RM: Iliman Ndiaye (7) - Was regularly creating trouble for the opponent's defence from the right-flank.
AM: Idrissa Gueye (6) - Despite being a defensive midfielder, he pressed up well. Unfortunately, he will miss the next game.
LM: Ismaila Sarr (8) - Made good runs and found space to keep the defence busy.
CF: Boulaye Dia (5) - Struggled to make enough threats for the opposition.
