A goalkeeper with Al-Hilal and the Saudi Arabian national team, Mohammed bin Khalil bin Ibrahim Al-Owais is a Saudi professional football player. He was instrumental in his team's stunning victory over Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening game.

He has been in outstanding form while competing for both his club, Al Hilal, and the Saudi national team in their World Cup opening against Argentina, one of the tournament favorites. After Saudi Arabia's historic victory, the 31-year-old was named Player of the Match with five saves, two claims, and 14 precise passes.
In addition to making crucial stops, the Saudi Arabia goalkeeper had excellent off-the-ball movement. At times, he took on the role of a sweeper-keeper and intervened to clear long balls from the midfield.
World Cup Record
In September 2015, Al-Owais was summoned to the senior Saudi Arabian team for a match against Timor-Leste in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier. On November 15, 2016, he made his FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying debut against Japan.
He has competed in two World Cups. The 2018 FIFA World Cup was where the 31-year-old played. He was the goalie for his team's 1-0 loss to Uruguay in the group stage match.
Al-Owais was selected player of the match on November 22, 2022, during a 2022 FIFA World Cup encounter against Argentina for his goalkeeping heroics, which helped Saudi Arabia to a historic 2-1 shock victory.
