Al-Dawsari, a winger, created history on Tuesday by scoring the winning goal for Saudi Arabia in the Falcons' game against Argentina in the 52nd minute. The 31-year-old not only helped his nation win, but after scoring against Egypt in the 2018 World Cup group stage, he joined Sami al-Jaber as the only Saudi player to ever score in two World Cups. The 31-year-old has 45 goals and 35 assists to his credit in the top division and has won the Saudi Pro League five times.
Current Form
This season has seen Salem Al-Dawsari score only one goal in four appearances for Al Hilal Saudi FC in the Saudi Pro League, who are currently sitting in fourth place in the league table. He has completed eight dribbles with a 71% success rate this season in the league.
World Cup Record
In 2018, he played in his first World Cup and scored two goals. He will tie all-record Jaber's for the most World Cup goals scored by a Saudi if he scores a third goal this season.
In May of that year, he was a member of the Saudi Arabian preparatory team for the FIFA World Cup in Russia. On June 25, a late goal by Al-Dawsari helped his team upset Egypt 2-1 in their final World Cup group stage match.
Club Career
Al-Dawsari is a one-club man in Saudi Arabia; he played 309 times for Al-Hilal, scoring 71 goals, assisting 62 others, and winning the Saudi Pro League five times.
As part of a deal between La Liga and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, he spent 2018 on loan with Spanish club Villarreal. He only made one appearance in Spain, coming on as a substitute for Villareal against Real Madrid in a 2-2 tie that year after they had come back from being down by a goal.
