6 Julian Alvarez
After Lionel Scaloni introduced a few alterations to the first-team lineup, Argentina's victorious World Cup campaign truly began to stall out. One of the most significant changes was the striker switch from Lautaro Martinez to Julian Alvarez.
The indefatigable Alvarez worked tirelessly by Scaloni's side well with persistence of a bloodhound. He emerged to be the ideal counterpoint to Lionel Messi and netted four important goals during the competition, including an outstanding brace against Croatia in the semi-finals. Two young, good attackers, not just one, make up Manchester City's roster, and Alvarez unquestionably has the talent to soar to high heights.
7 Ashraf Hakimi
The Atlas Lions' compass is always pointed north. While Noussair Mazraoui alternated between the other flank and Bono in one game, Romain Saiss and Nayef Aguerd also missed time with injury during the competition.
Throughout it all, Achraf Hakimi was prominent, commanding Morocco's attacks while Hakim Ziyech snuck in. While the PSG full-panenka back's versus Spain in the penalty shootout may well be the symbol of this campaign for the northwest African nation, his rapid recovery rate was as important. He was not born on Moroccan soil, like many Moroccans, yet he personifies everything admirable about this side of the country.
8 Sofyan Amrabat
Sofyan Amrabat has served as the driving force behind the Moroccan team in a competition that was supposed to be dominated by the game's biggest players, but it was the Fiorentina midfielder assassin who ultimately stole the show.
Amrabat was willing to give his entire body to his team, and in addition to consistently giving the ball away, he was also outstanding with the ball in his hands. In a team that at times sat back to buffer pressure and at other times stepped forward to push and keep the steam on, he has set the tone and accomplished a lot of dirty work. Amrabat was a standout midfielder in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
