The Geneva Forum 2023, a collaborative effort between the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) and the Tibet Bureau Geneva, recently concluded its proceedings on October 27, 2023. Hotala, Dr. Xiao Qiang, and Tenzin Dawa, shedding light on the current state of human rights in areas governed by the PRC.
The second session, "Silencing Voices: China's Assimilationist Policy and Crackdown on Defenders," was led by Benedict Rogers, Dr. Emile Dirks, and Lhadon Tethong, who provided valuable insights into the challenges faced under China's repressive policies.
Additionally, the third session, "Development or Neo-Colonization? Tibet and Regions under China," hosted Professor Dibyesh Anand, Dr. Martin Mills, and Dr. Gyal Lo, delving into the intricate balance between development initiatives and concerns regarding potential neo-colonialism in these regions.
The fourth-panel session, "China's Global Footprints: Surveillance and Transnational Repression," invited Yaqiu Wang, Josh Rogin, and Dr. Tenzin Lhadon, who examined the implications of China's expanding influence and surveillance tactics on a global scale.
