First Indian feminist and social reformer Savitribai Phule:
She is a poet and social reformer who made significant contributions to the advancement of women's rights in India. She was born on January 3rd, 1831 in Naigaon, Maharashtra, British India to a farming family. At that period, infanticide, Sati, child marriage, and other patriarchal traditions were frequent problems for women. She was also wed off when she was nine years old, becoming a victim of child marriage. She was nonetheless taught to read and write by her husband, who was also a social activist.
In Maharashtra and across the nation, Phule is regarded as a key figure in the social reform movement.
