Former CBI chief Ranjit Sinha died in New Delhi on early Friday morning due to Covid related complications. He was 68.
Sinha, a Bihar cadre IPS officer of 1974 batch remained CBI between 2012 and 2014. His tenure turned out be very controversial due to corruption allegations following which an FIR was registered against him but nothing came out of that probe. Before being appointed CBI chief he headed Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) force and the Railway Protection Force. As CBI chief Sinha was in spot because of meeting with people at his residence who were facing probe by the agency he headed.
