Recently, the FIA amended their International Sporting Code by amending the rule that stated that drivers must be 18 and above to drive. This was originally introduced in 2014 when Max Verstappen, the most recent World Champion, was allowed to join Redbull’s B-team at only 17 years old. The pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1, is no stranger to young talent especially in today’s era and by removing the ‘Verstappen Rule’ the FIA has now opened the doors for Mercedes Junior Driver and predicted once-in-a-generation talent 17 year old Andrea Kimi Antonelli to join an F1 team.
