Ganpati babba moriya
Ganpati Festival, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, is a widely celebrated festival in Mumbai. It is a ten-day festival that marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of Wisdom and Good Fortune, according to Hindu mythology. During this festival, people bring home idols of Lord Ganesha, which are beautifully crafted and decorated. The streets of Mumbai are filled with pandals (temporary structures) that house these idols, and people come together to offer prayers, sing and dance. The festival is marked by enthusiasm, joy and devotion, and it brings together people from all walks of life, cutting across caste, class, and religion. On the tenth day, the idols are taken in grand processions to the sea, where they are immersed, signifying the departure of Lord Ganesha. The festival not only celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha but also serves as an occasion for people to come together, strengthen social bonds and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of India.
