🚨🔴 The new head coach of Indian Cricket Team, Gautam Gambhir has made it clear that he wants Suryakumar Yadav as the new T20I captain.
There has been reports that both Gambhir and Agarkar spoke to Hardik Pandya this evening about the change of plan and explained to him about appointment of Suryakumar Yadav as long-term captain in T20Is.
The team for the Sri Lankan tour will be picked on Wednesday, as per ESPNCricinfo.
Gautam Gambhir's plan is to build the core team for the 2026 T20 World Cup and to find a captain for the same.
Both Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav have T20I captaincy experience, and both are first-choice players in India’s T20I scheme of things.
Pandya, in fact, proved how big of an impact he can have when fully fit, as evident from his exploits in the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean last month, while Suryakumar Yadav still continues to be one of the most fearsome T20 batters going around.
Though there have been reports suggesting Pandya will giving a miss.
Both, Gambhir and Suryakumar were part of the KKR dressing room under the former’s captaincy and had given the top-order batter the iconic nickname ‘SKY’. The T20I specialist batter is also considered to be among the most popular members in the dressing room.
