While social isolation took its toll on all of us, a new study has found that the Covid 19 pandemic has exacerbated existing psychosocial and emotional issues faced by the LGBTQIA plus people.
The need to remain physically distant caused disruption to social coping mechanisms that exist for the sex and gender minorities
The research has been published in The Journal of Homosexuality .
While isolation affected everybody, the fact that the in person solace that comes from an inclusive community bar, community centre or support group was missing for this group had negative impact on the mental health .
Negative physical symptoms were experienced during the first three months of pandemic.
