The Georgia House passed a bill 97-72 that will create additional ID requirements, reduce early voting opportunities, and limit the use mail-in ballots.
While there have been several independent investigations and reports that there was no substantial voter fraud in 2020, Republicans argue that this is necessary to regain voters’ confidence. Democrats argue that this build might reduce voter turnout, which is already relatively low in the U.S.
Both sides are correct, but this bill does little to regain voter confidence. In fact, limiting early voting and ballots to me signals a broken system and might confirm voters’ fears of meddling/fraud.
