Self-talk. It's very important. We all do it at some points of the day. And for those of you who on seeing a person talking to themselves call them mad and weird, I would straight away say, No. You are weird! Coz self talk is absolutely normal. And it's important.
Yeah maybe some of you prefer to do it in your minds, in silence, and some prefer to it by actually speaking to themselves, like they do to other people🤷♀️ I remember when I was in school, the authorities had organised a session for us. I was in class 6 or 7 back then. A sister (I was in a convent) came and she talked about self-talk. I still remember what she taught us that day.
She said that self-talk is very important. It's brain food. And that I guess has stuck with me since then. Coz probably after that I've started talking to myself. About daily things, about something that annoys me, about what someone said to me, about my plans for the day or the week or some other time in life. And when I see other people talking to themselves, I smile. Coz I feel good, that yes, they too are talking to themselves. And it's good to do so!💟
But yes, it's also very important at the same time to remember what and how we speak to ourselves. If you regularly talk to yourself in a negative tone, criticising yourself, blaming yourself for things, scolding yourself, and all sort of negative things, then please don't do this. No. I'm not telling you to stop talking to yourself. I'm telling you to change that negative self-talk. Coz, you see, the way we talk to ourselves is very important, as it affects our mood, our outlook towards life, our attitude towards ourselves and in turn, to others.
Your positive and motivating words to yourself will uplift you, help you in having faith in yourself, give you more confidence, but at the same time, your negative words to yourself will spoil all those things. You have the power and you have to choose how you want to use it!💫
