Gone Girl is a psychological thtiller directed by David Fincher. It is written for the screen by Gillian Flynn, based on her novel of the same name. The movie is set in the city of Missouri, around the character of Nick Dune played by Ben Affleck. He's the prime suspect in the disappearance of his wife Amy played by Rosamund Pike. Amy disappears on her fifth wedding anniversary and everyone thinks she has been killed by Ben because of the plot that Amy has built up as a way to exact revenge from Nick, who has been cheating on her. The conflict of the movie revolves around toxic relationships, betrayal and revenge.
Amazing Amy is a children's book series which was written by Amy's parents and that is why her disappearance gets a lot of coverage. Nick is a writing teacher. When thw detectives start to investigate, they find badly concealed evidence of a struggle at Nick and Amy's home, that is when the suspicion starts to fall on Nick. He isn't good at showing emptions so the media potrays him as a sociopath and even his sister starts to question him.
Amy and Nick marrige was good but when they lost their jobs and had to move back to Nick's hometown, the relationship started to deteriorate. Nick became distant towards Amy and even cheated on her.
The detectives find Amy's bloodstains in the house when the forensic report comes in. They find a diary where Amy has written she fears Nick will kill her. Amy made a best friend and had told her about domestic abuse that she faced.
These are whole lies that Amy has fabricated as a way to exact revenge as she had found out about Nick's affair. Amy wants Nick to be tried and charged for murder in court.Nick convinces his sister of this.
Nick appears in a T.V. show and pleads for his innocence. Amy sees this and has a change of heart. She goes back and tells the police that she was kidnapped by her ex. In the end, she tells Nick to become the person he was in the interview again.
