I tend to see this a little differently. The challenges to the original post have not addressed the character, body of work, and experience of the author. The challenges are along historical, societal and political lines. In my opinion, it is never an individual's beliefs or values that we seek to challenge, support or dismiss, it is when these beliefs become a system that underpin how we live with others.
When the system, call it financialised capitalism, post colonialism, state, government, society, democracy, devalues and dehumanises the experiences of categories of people and denies them the right to an equal life of their own design, we struggle to make sense of and rise against such an unequal system. It is this we seek to challenge.
I completely agree and understand. That is why these delicate issues of abortion and civil rights, gender and racial equality etc. are so hotly debated and fought for. These beliefs affect our freedoms and the way we live.
Precisely!
This is a great post about Armstrong’s core values and beliefs. It is especially touching to me because I have known Armstrong for 20 years and have seen him go through many experiences and evolve and grow over time. I can honestly say Armstrong is one of the most hard-working and disciplined people I have ever met.
Of course there are many varying religious beliefs across the world. Those who challenged the post have their own religious beliefs about God, right and wrong etc.
No one is going to convince anyone in this forum about whether another person’s beliefs are right or wrong. I do believe, however, we can use Pixstory to listen to each other’s points of view and seek understand and respect all beliefs and points of view.
