Spilling some tea on covering your greys at home;
1 DO NOT BUY BOX DYE WHATSOEVER - These are the dyes mostly found in grocery/ medical stores or supermarkets. They usually contain high amounts of PPDs, nitro dyes, metallic salts, and even unclean henna, making them cheap and easy to use at home. They deposit faster than professional colours. Instead of these box dyes, opt for Professional Colours. These colours usually come in Tubes and you have to get the developer separately.
2 ALWAYS DO A PATCH TEST
BEFORE APPLYING THE COLOUR - This will make sure that you don't get any allergic or adverse reactions to any ingredients present in the colour. Sometimes even the most expensive, ammonia-free colour can give you a reaction, and colour with ammonia won't. Mostly, people are allergic to PPD but not ammonia. It's advised to mix a little colour and dab the solution behind your ear and leave it to dry. If any irritation occurs, you know that this colour is not for you, and rinse it right away.
3 You can consider skipping shampooing before applying colour. This will allow your scalp's natural oils to act as a barrier against any irritation.
4 Starting with parting your hair down the middle and sectioning into 4 equal parts will help you apply colour neatly and evenly.
5 Let the colour sit for the required time as mentioned on the tube or instruction palette. Keeping it overtime may cause your scalp susceptible to allergies.
6 Sprinkle a little water and mush it around with your hands to avoid harsh lines and colour buildup on the scalp.
Other ways to play around GREYS - Unveil the true you by embracing those beautiful greys. If you are tired of covering greys every three weeks, carrying your natural greys is gonna be easier. The grow-out phase and the acceptance take time, later you are not gonna look back. The story's not over yet. You can rock those beautiful greys by colouring them purple, pink, blue, or any other vibrant colour. This is definitely gonna add colours to your life.
