Real music is definitely not dead. Anyone who says that is, as you implied, making inflammatory remarks. Music has always been and will always be a part of the human experience. In fact, music existed long before instruments, so the only way music can die is if humanity dies.
The statement "music is dead" is simply inaccurate and overly broad. Music is far from dead or even bad. In fact, if I may say, music has become more alive in some ways. It is now easier for fans to access music via the internet, and it is also easier for an unknown musician to learn new skills, share their talent, and become famous. It's easier for people to have a broader audience than it was back in the day. It's respected a much more starting out in music. There are now more opportunities than ever before to see live performances, buy or stream music, and even watch music documentaries, all from a much wider range of artists than ever before.
Making your preferences as blanket statements does not make it a fact.
