Peter Hartley has returned to Hartlepool on a permanent basis after leaving Indian Super League team Jamshedpur FC. Peter joined Hartlepool from a North-East competitor in 2009 and has played in 181 appearances for the club. The player was then named captain for his commitment to the team while under the supervision of Neale Cooper.
Peter left Pool and went on to play for Stevenage, Plymouth, Bristol Rovers, Blackpool, and Motherwell before joining the Indian Super League at Jamshedpur. The 34-year-old has returned to his old club on a long-term deal that will keep him there until the end of the season.
'Peter has been training with us over the last week and we can see he's a leader, a good character and the boy can still play. His experience will certianly help us and we are looking forward to seeing Peter on the pitch', added Keith Curle.
While Peter expressed his opinion after joining his former club from Jamshedpur FC,” 'I’m not here for the comfort of home. I’m here to help this team progress. I’ve seen more than enough that we can get out of this situation. I have some great memories from my time here and ten years on, I am just as hungry to create some more success'.
Peter Hartley is a well-known player for Hartlepool, and his early contributions to the club prompted the club to sign him. The player is in his later years, yet he is still a top-tier player for the team.
Hartley will be assigned the squad number 39, and his transfer is dependent on international approval.
While Hartlepool are having a disappointing season, with only one win in their previous four games, the 34-year-old signing might help the team. And the former Blackpool player could make his debut in Hartlepool’s next match.
