Religious culture has a sustaining energy. Indoctrinating young brains as early as possible, as well as recruiting older naive individuals, is part of the culture. Because individuals instil incorrect and unreasonable notions in children, when a child realises that religion does not make sense for them, the adults employ fear and intimidation to keep the child from seeking the truth further.
A lot of what religion is comes from fear and intimidation, and a lot of it doesn't make sense. Adding to that, a lot of traditional practices don't make sense, or are simply cruel in these times. Take the example of the six-week-old baby that died in Romania during their baptism. They suffered a cardiac arrest by being submerged in water rapidly. Take the women of Iran and other middle eastern countries. They are being not only forced to wear headscarves but are also getting killed for not wearing one. The abortion bans in America speak for themselves.
I'm not against practicing religion, but a serious question: Has religion gone too far?
