The National Democratic Alliance government, among other things, will be known and remembered for the massive road infrastructure it has been building across the country. And maximum credit for that goes to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. He has proved to be one of the most proactive ministers, who has taken the country’s highways to the next level. In fact, the project was started long back during the Prime Ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee when his government launched the Golden Quadrilateral project that connected the country's four big metros, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai with each other and on the way hundreds of towns and cities.

Road and highway infrastructure is one of the important indicators of the development of a country. India is doing exceedingly well on that. It not only promotes and encourages economic activity, it also strengthens the national and social integration among the people living in different parts of the country that spread across far and wide.
