When asked about Gareth Bale’s retirement from football during a press conference, Guardiola joked, "Fantastic goal player."
The former Real Madrid player announced his retirement from football following Wales’ exit from the 2022 World Cup, as Bale helped his national team win the tournament for the first time since 1958.
And he certainly cemented his legacy as a football player by winning all the trophies in his career. Bale is the top scorer in Welsh history with 41 goals and started his club career at Southampton before he moved to Tottenham, where he transformed into one of the best players in Europe, which tempted Real Madrid to make a lucrative signing for him.
Bale quickly became a well-established player at Real Madrid and had many memorable moments with the club. His over-head kick against Liverpool and then a goal against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey, where he sprinted from his own half and scored an emphatic goal
But his career at Real Madrid became null and frequent injuries deemed him as surplus of requirement, as he left for MLS club Los Angles.
Besides football, Bale has an immense love for golf; at Real Madrid, he was criticised for playing golf instead of paying attention to his club career.
And this became a troll, which Bale himself embraced during the Wales game, where he was holding a cloth that read "Wales, Golf, and Real Madrid, in that order."
Even his teammate has named him "the golfer." And Guardiola was seen making a joke on his goal trolls, as he think he now concentrate more that sport after retiring from football, and the Manchester City head coach later added he would also join him if plays golf.
As Wales said on his retirement post "a new adventure" which underlined as could purse his career in golf.
